How to wear colour and look chic-

Neutrals are all the rage right now, and it’s so common to see monochromatic look of all beige, all white, camel gray and this is beautiful obviously! Everyone love this trend  but also we love colours and I’ve noticed over the last couple years it’s becoming harder and harder to find really beautiful colours available for sale. And that’s in part thanks to the rise of fast fashion, it’s difficult to make really nice saturated clothing that lasts a long time at a really low price point.

1. Start with one colour

The first tip is to start things off with one accent colour, so most of us have wardrobes that are full of really neural basic colour.

The nice way to start injecting colour into that neutral base is to start with one shade. Find something that as soon as you put it on it makes you feel amazing.

2. Start small

If you’re unsure about the colour or colour in general, I recommend experimenting with something small so the way to do this is with a scarf anytime we think incorporating a colour into my wardrobe, always experiment with a small silk scarf.

Fabric like chiffon is really easy because you can wear it very effortlessly, it looks nice when it’s crinkled. You can tie it on your handbag, wear it in your hair tie and check weather you are comfortable with that colour or not.

3. The rule of 2’s

When you find the colour that you want to incorporate into your wardrobe in more than one item, and you want to wear them together my recommendation is to take that colour wear it once and then repeat it a second time.

It can be something as simple as wearing a red sweater and then matching lip colour, or wearing a great scarf and repeating that colour in your shoes. So you read the outfit as being very cohesive and it doesn’t read as colourful so much as it does intentional.

4. The new monochrome

If you want to start wearing more colour maybe colour from head to toe, and you’re not really sure how to start doing that I recommend finding one colour that you love and then picking variations of that and wearing those together.

So maybe you love sky blue pair sky blue with deep navy and a lighter blue a mid-tone blue.

5. Keep it warm or cool

If your having a hard time pairing similar colour together or just wearing colour in general, it could come down to the undertone. Cool colours go with cool colours and warm colours goes with warm colours. Our eyes are natural drawn to them it’s naturally pleasing it’s very calming so if you put on two colours that are in a similar colour range you think they should go, but then seem to be a little off.

It might come down to the undertone and a good way to start training your eye is to consider maroon and burgundy. Where maroon is warm it’s a brown base and burgundy is cool it’s purple base.
