Indian Wear Essentials-
With constant sales and new launches clouding my judgement, it is really hard to stray away from making new and to be honest, unnecessary purchases.
When we have lots of lehengas and Kurtis we know we’re probably never going to wear, but we can mix and match and create gorgeous looks with everything with just a few important pieces.
1. Kurtas & palazzo
While staple silhouettes like kurtas and palazzos and neutral colours are a must-have, don’t be afraid to invest in colours and prints that can give you versatile pairings.
2. Statement Anarkali kurta and printed palazzos
A statement anarkali kurta can be the star of many different outfits.
The same goes with a striking pair of printed palazzos, whether it’s a casual outfit or something more dressy, they can liven up every outfit and as a bonus point they can create stunning indo western looks too!
3. Fabrics and more
Since the mission is to declutter the wardrobe and as an add-on reduce the carbon footprint, the fabrics we choose to wear are crucial in this journey.
Natural blends like cotton and linen can withstand all sorts of we’re and tear.
4. Mix and Match
No ethnic wardrobe is complete without some much wanted basic that complete your outfit in a stylish way and blend with everything.
And so this pieces should be the ones you can really count on. The best thing to do is get your basics tailor made. This way you can make sure it fits you perfectly, and you can choose to make it in a fabric of your choice.
Make sure your Kurtis have slits. This will make sure they complement voluminous palazzos and slim churidars alike. Opting for neutral colours that will go with all your kurtas is great investment.
5. Adventures Add Ons
While focusing on your basics, make sure you don’t ignore add-on’s that help finish your outfit. There’s a whole world of dupatta drapes they are just dying to livin up your wardrobe.
A monochrome outfit will create the best canvas for these dramatic drapes. If the intricate draping is not your thing, a reliable jacket can get along with most ethnic outfits!
Alternatively, you can express yourself through belts as well. A gold metallic belt is great statement piece that can totally transform any outfit. Use it to belt your Anarkali, ditch the churidars and wear it as an indo western dress! Our wardrobe definitely got lighter, but the quality of outfits has only risen. Going minimal has had a chic yet conscious effect.
